Motor Underwriter PLDA London – Overview
We are supporting a specialist motor insurer in the appointment of a Motor Underwriter to join their PLDA team in London.
This role focuses on underwriting private, SME, and light commercial vehicle risks, working closely with brokers to deliver competitive and commercially sound underwriting decisions.
It offers an excellent opportunity for a developing underwriter to build experience across a broad motor portfolio while gaining exposure to portfolio performance and pricing.
The Role
You will underwrite a range of motor risks across private and light commercial vehicles, ensuring alignment with underwriting appetite and supporting profitable growth.
Working closely with brokers and internal teams, you will assess risk, apply pricing, and contribute to portfolio performance through informed underwriting decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and existing motor business across PLDA lines
- Assess risk and apply pricing in line with underwriting guidelines
- Build and maintain strong relationships with broker partners
- Support portfolio performance through awareness of trends and results
- Contribute to underwriting strategy and appetite development
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards
- Work collaboratively with underwriting, pricing, and operations teams
About You
- Experience in motor underwriting, ideally within personal lines or light commercial
- Understanding of underwriting principles and pricing fundamentals
- Strong commercial awareness and interest in market dynamics
- Ability to build relationships with brokers
- Keen to develop within a growing underwriting team
Salary & Benefits
