MI Select is supporting a leading global e-commerce marketplace in hiring an experienced Business Development Manager in Hungary to join their team on a fully remote basis.
This is a high-impact opportunity for a commercially driven professional with strong marketplace, vendor management, and partnership development experience. You will play a key role in expanding category value, strengthening merchant relationships, and driving growth across the platform.
The Opportunity
- Develop strategic partnerships with retail merchandisers, manufacturers, sellers, and direct-to-consumer brands
- Drive category expansion aligned with customer demand and business growth strategy
- Support merchants in onboarding and scaling successfully on the platform
- Guide sellers on market positioning, product planning, brand strategy, and operational execution
- Identify commercial growth opportunities through data analysis and market research
- Deliver industry analysis reports and adjust strategies based on evolving trends
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to optimise merchant and category performance
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage relationships with local Hungarian sellers and vendors
- Increase overall marketplace value through strategic category management
- Develop merchant growth strategies backed by data insights
- Conduct industry and competitor analysis to identify opportunity gaps
- Propose and execute innovative commercial projects
- Manage logistics and operational planning during peak demand periods
- Deliver measurable revenue and performance improvements
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in Business Development, Vendor Management, or Brand Management
- Strong background within an e-commerce or online marketplace environment
- Experience working for a global marketplace platform (highly desirable)
- Established network with Hungarian sellers and retail partners
- Advanced data analysis skills and commercial reporting capability
- Strong strategic thinking and market exploration skills
- Experience developing comprehensive merchant marketing plans
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Salary & Benefits
- 22M–38M HUF (dependent on experience)
